Sailor Moon Fandom: Who is a “real” fan?
This has been thrown around so many times in the fandom. Who is a real fan?
- Am I a real fan because I watched the sub?
- Am I a real fan because I watched the dub?
- Am I a real fan because I watched the live action?
- Am I a real fan because I watched the musicals?
- Am I a real fan because I the read manga?
- Am I a real fan because I bought the merch?
- Am I a real fan if I did all the past questions and plus more?
The answer above is no in my opinion because it’s no such thing as a real fan.
Before yall railroad me let me explain. What makes a fan if you enjoy it so much that you mind talking to other people who enjoy the same thing. That mean is someone who can talk about what they know and share it with other people rather you just watch one version of SM or everything of SM. That means if a person who just watch the dub is willing to share their knowledge of the show from that perceive, that means you are willing to share your perceives from watching the sub and not looking down upon them. You get two sides of the field. That person who just watch the dub may get a “ah ha” moment. Yes I know in this day and age you can find anything on the internet but may be they don’t know about all the changes that happen? I think it’s the person who watch the dsb responsibly to inform them or give them links to find this info not chastise them about it.That goes for the manga, live action, and the musicals.
